A Peyoke Drum Bowl Made Of Maple

Posted in My Projects, Woodturning on Jun 25, 2010

Here’s a different take on a bowl that I did recently. Its straight side, flat bottom and accents reminds me of a drum, hence, a drum bowl. :)

It is made of Maple and it’s 8″ (20cm) in diameter and 2″ tall (5cm). The rim and base are accented with a series of small burned dots and then stained, giving great contrast to natural Maple side.

The natural Maple has been finished with U-Beaut combo and the stained area has been given a coat of wipe-on poly.

I really like this bowl. The variety of the wood colors, the hole or burnt hole, adds a real touch of class.
