Make Your Own Treadle Lathe
This design and construction guide was written in response to many requests I've received over the years for a source for plans, instructions or drawings for a foot-powered treadle lathe. I have used this shop-built lathe at traditional woodworking demonstrations and it never fails to draw an interested crowd. It is also a practical tool, having a permanent home in the center of our traditional tool workshop.
Ed's Woodturning
This site was primarily developed as an on line gallery for my work. Once it was created I realized it was an ideal vehicle to also provide a forum for woodturning information for new and experienced turners alike. I intend to both answer and raise questions of interest to new turners. As I venture into new territory myself, I hope those topics will be of interest to more experienced turners.

An article by Jon Siegel describing practice methods for spindle turning including five basic learning exercises.
