And here’s some more of the small Maple tea lights done in the Peyoke style. Like the previous ones they are about 2 1/2″ in diameter and 2″ tall and again, each have a different design and burnings.
As you can likely see, these tealights, along with the ones posted earlier, have led to designs that I used in the larger bowls. For example, the tea light shown here with the notched edge was used on the Peyoke Bowl With A Notched Rim.
I found these candle holders a great way to work out ideas in design and style on a small scale. They allow this to be done quickly and inexpensive in both material and time. Once completed they also make a great gift or small sale item.
Here’s some photos of each individual candle holder:

Here’s some more of the small Maple Peyoke tea lights. These ones are also about 2 1/2″ in diameter and 2″ tall and again, each have their own style and design.
These are so much fun to make. It’s a great opportunity to relax and just play. The tea light shape, the design of the burning and the choice of what to stain is completely done on the fly. Because they are so quick to make I use them to generate ideas for the larger pieces.
Here are photos of the individual tealights:

Here’s another Maple Peyoke bowl with a notched, burned and stained rim. The rim is larger than the previous one and it is rounded with the notches and dots burned on the outside edge.
The rim also has quite the undercut on the inside, almost creating an enclosed bowl. It works well with the rolled rim.
The bowl is about 8″ in diameter and 2″ high . It is finished with the U-Beaut combo. The stained area is finished with a couple of coats of wipe-on poly.

Here’s a Maple Peyoke bowl that features a rim that has been notched, burned and stained.
It’s approximately 8″ in diameter and 2″ high. Like all the others it has been finished with EEE Cream and Shellawax. The stained rim has been brushed with a coat of wipe-on poly.
I found it surprising how easily and quickly a simple thing like notching the rim can give a whole new look to a piece. It took it from being a plain bowl to one that looks to be inspired by the American Southwest, which was what I was looking for. If you have ever been to my home you’ll agree that this fits right in.
